EMDR Therapy

Specialized therapy for trauma, relational wounds, & negative core beliefs.

It doesn't matter whether you have had a major traumatic event, you've experienced repeated traumas like abuse, or you have painful memories that are haunting you. These experiences can keep you stuck in the past and can interfere with your ability to have the life you want.

Unlike normal memories, moments of pain, fear, and isolation become part of the body's safety response system. Based on these experiences, the brain unconsciously searches for situations that seem unsafe and activates a protective response, creating involuntary symptoms in the body and triggering a strong reaction that may feel too big for the situation. Being triggered can be embarrassing. It can keep you locked in fear or pain and it can hurt your relationships. Often talk therapy isn't enough to shift and release these experiences.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapy that utilizes the natural inclination of the mind and body to work toward healing to process painful and traumatic experiences so that they can be stored more adaptively in the brain and stop interfering with your life. Dual attention stimulus (tapping, eye movements, etc.) allows a client to remain grounded while the mind and body are stimulated to process the event at the root level. It can be a transformative means of healing trauma, PTSD, negative family-of-origin dynamics, or overcoming painful experiences so that you can experience emotional freedom and live a happier, fuller life.

Although EMDR is considered a short therapy, there is no way to guarantee the length of time needed for treatment. EMDR isn’t right for everyone and it may require stabilization and other preparatory work. Depending on your circumstances and the extent of the trauma, it can take time to process your experiences. Let's set up a consultation to discuss whether EMDR is right for you. Click the link below to get started.

The paradox of trauma is that it has both the power to destroy and the power to transform and resurrect.

Fees & payment

Therapy is $225 for 50-minute sessions. I believe that therapy should be accessible and have sliding scale spots reserved for those with demonstrated needs.

Payment is accepted in the form of Zelle, Venmo, and all major credit cards. Payment is due in full at the time of service.

I am considered an out-of-network provider by insurance companies. Some insurance companies will issue the client a reimbursement to cover a portion of the cost of sessions. If you would like to use your insurance, please contact your insurance or employee benefits provider and check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
